Why
is the Acai berry called a "super food"?
The
Acai berry is loaded with antioxidants and contains a lot of fibres, healthy
monounsaturated fats, iron and amino acids. I've heard a lot about the Acai berry lately. Can I get your
opinion on it?
The
scientific community are very interested in studying indigenous cultures that
have long revered certain foods for health and medical benefits. For example in
Australia there are foods like Kakadu plum and now to little berries from the
Amazon. It would seem that the phytochemicals contained within fruits hold
potent health benefits. The Acai berry is one of these popular ones that have
many benefits on a health level as well as lifestyle. This would also apply to
the Pomegranate juice which is becoming available to various countries around
the world. The only real difference is many fruit juices are sugar water not
real juices.
Do
Acai berry based products use recycled glass in its glass bottles?
In some cases there are
companies which do use recycling services and strongly encourage customers to
take advantage of recycling glass in their own state and country where
applicable.
Why
do some Acai berry based products contain the preservative sodium benzoate?
Sodium benzoate, an organic
chemical preservative, can prevent the growth of almost all micro-organisms
(e.g., yeast, bacteria, and fungi) and occurs naturally in some fruits,
vegetables, herbs, spices, nuts, wines, and teas.
If someone is allergic to shellfish can they consume
glucosamine hydrochloride?
Shellfish are a known allergen
and glucosamine is derived from prawn / shrimp shells. People who are allergic
to shellfish are actually allergic to a protein known as “Troponin” which is
found in the muscle of prawns / shrimp. Analysis of various Acai berry gels
available has indicated there is no protein in the glucosamine hydrochloride.
Glucosamine hydrochloride, the
form of glucosamine found in various Acai berry gels is more than 99% pure.
Because shellfish is a known allergen please speak to a doctor before
purchasing any Acai berry gel products.
Are
Acai berry based products gluten-free?
Yes as a general rule of thumb
but you may need to check the product label first.
